Heritage awards presented at AGM
Our 2024 Annual General Meeting, which took place at the Priory Barn on Thursday 5th December, included a presentation of Heritage Achievement Awards.
The Elizabeth Cartwright-Hignett Medals were struck by Devon-based medal-makers Bigbury Mint in commemoration of Elizabeth's 25 years (1983-2008) as President of Bradford on Avon Preservation Trust.
Our current President, Robert Floyd, presented a medal to Mike Burbidge for his superb work on restoring houses in St Margaret's Street (next door to Geoffrey Saxty's former offices), which have been on the Trust's at-risk register for decades. Stonemason Ian Benford, who worked alongside Mike on the St Margaret's Street building, as well as many other restoration projects around the town, wasn't able to attend the AGM, but will also receive a medal.
The third silver medal was presented to Derrick Hunt and Annie Brisland, representing the Clean up Bradford on Avon (CluB) volunteers, who do so much to keep the town clean and tidy. The medal was originally due to be presented in 2020, but Covid meant that the AGM took place via Zoom, and the presentation was merely virtual!
